Hailing from the island of Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi, eri is a magical queer, gender nonconforming person who has been learning to flow with the currents of the local Bay Area communities when they moved here in 2013. As a descendant of 1st and 2nd generation Japanese immigrants in Hawaiʻi, eri’s passion for justice is deeply rooted in aloha ʻāina (love for the land).
The work that the YWFC does to combat the prison industrial complex and finding innovative ways to support our communities to heal from systemic violence drew eri to support YWFC’s leadership as the Executive Assistant in late 2019.
eri organizes around issues of demilitarization, food sovereignty, abolishing the prison industrial complex, fighting gentrification and ending the patriarchy. eri is also deeply invested in finding innovative ways of being sustainably interdependent through collectivism and accountability rooted in transformative justice.
